Unreal Engine 4.6 NVIDIA VXGI Shows Breathtaking Visuals

NVIDIA has recently introduced its new Dynamic GI called VXGI. VXGI has been integrated in a split co-operative of Unreal Engine four, and 3D artist "Byzantos" shared his results subsequently experimenting with the new solution.

Byzantos claims that NVIDIA VXGI is the almost accurate solution available today. you can view some screenshots of his piece of work, in the gallery below:

Byzantos' notes regarding Nvidia's VXGI:

So what gives? Is this relatively new dynamic GI method worth giving a closer look? I reckon it is! Currently the nearly accurate solution available. Nothing else comes close if yous're talking nearly quality versus performance. Even though nevertheless a beta, it already impresses with really practiced colorbleed, AO and its single light bounce. Add together to that NVIDIA is looking into integrating a second bounciness whilst improving the output and you lot've got a really strong contender for dynamic GI in games and maybe even Arch-Viz.

Skillful:

  • Authentic ColorBleed from Diffuse
  • Ambient Occlusion (equally opposed to Screen Space Ambience Occlusion)
  • Stunning GI from Emissive materials
  • Specular tracing offers an interesting alternative to SSR
  • Looks adequately good on low-settings/depression-functioning touch
  • Can look incredible on high/extreme settings
  • Fantabulous tweak and management controls
  • Adequately good range before quality degrades

Bad:

  • Requires recompile of Chief-Materials for Voxelization
  • Recompiling Master-Materials takes longer than acceptable.
  • Terrible stability when scene includes animated assets.
  • Prone to pocket-sized lighting errors even on fully static scenes.
  • No GI from particles.
  • Does non back up all Material types.
  • Specular tracing yields rather low resolution for reflections.
  • Small-scale objects yet need SSAO and SSR or will 'float'.
  • Can exist tricky to tweak for scene-specific circumstances.
  • Separate Unreal Co-operative, lagging backside core developments.
  • Slim chance of always getting integrated into master branch.

In curt: Promising.
When it works it looks really good.
It does however come with a few strings attached so to phone call this product-ready
is simply too soon. I'll be keeping my eyes on this one for sure!

Nvidia'south GI solution appears to be quite amazing, and its implementation in the Unreal Engine 4 is definitely great news. Lets hope that we get to see the solution implemented in games pretty shortly. We will bring yous whatever new data on Unreal Engine 4 and NVIDIA'southward VXGI, as soon every bit information technology becomes bachelor.
